Hi!

I'm a lilliputian surprised no other members have replied. I do non have a NAS but I would like the hazard to troubleshoot. The TechNet forum may provide to be useful, but the threads I take read advise work around. If y'all would Like to post your question in that location: https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/abode?forum=win10itpronetworking

I believe there has to exist an answer. Merely it takes a lot of question to help discover trouble. But in the questions the answer may show upwards. W10 is non that much unlike then W7's Microsoft Networking.

  • Is the bullheaded child W10 Home or pro
  • Are you wired or wireless (blind child to router)
  • Can blind child see other Network users in File Explore under Network
  • Tin Network users see blind kid
  • Is Public folder sharing on or off (avant-garde sharing "all networks")
  • Is password protect on or off (advanced sharing "all networks")
  • Was join a workgroup ran on trouble child
  • Is NetBIOS over tcp/ip enabled
  • Is there a web interface on NAS (Ip address)
  • What router
  • Is HomeGroup enabled on any network user

Howdy!

The answers to your questions are:

  • W10 Pro
  • Wired Ethernet
  • Yes. The two computers on the network can see each other and the NAS. The laptop running Widows 7 Pro tin can open the NAS just Desktop running Window x Pro can't.
  • Public Folder sharing is off
  • As far as I know you can't gear up a workgroup on a Synology NAS
  • Yes
  • Yes
  • Solwise SAR-600EW which likewise provides the Ethernet connections for the LAN and WiFi.

Hi!

Allow me clarify The problem child and bullheaded kid would be W10. And then running bring together a piece of work group on W10. Nearly Win Os default to WORKGROUP. But with the habitation group enabled on ane computer. I would try to create a new abode group on the W10 machine and have all machines join it. Except NAS. Removing the current abode group first.

What is the proper noun of the W10 machine? localhost@9010? if then modify the name before yous create home grouping. I know the consequence is W10 tin can non access NAS, But remember the error:

Windows cannot access\\DISKSTATION

Error lawmaking: 0x80070035

The network path was not plant

The W10 is not really part of the network. Then if the W10 creates the Microsoft network, information technology should then exist able to find the network path. The other 2 machine join that network then you should have a local network with admission to NAS on all machines.

Hi!

Pitiful to be so long in getting back to yous simply I have been pursuing the solution to my problem with Synology Technical Support and the Microsoft Networking Forum which can be constitute on

https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/fc734788-245d-4f4c-8d6b-804a3fe80c15/connecting-to-network-attached-storage?forum=win10itpronetworking

With regard to your respond I didn't really empathise the terms "problem child" and "blind child". I take simply ane calculator running W10 – my Desktop. The NAS has its own operating system and my Laptop runs on W7.

I am not interested in setting upwardly a Homegroup as I have other ways of accessing data between my machines. I volition well-nigh certainly delete it from Desktop. However, from some of the questions which you asked I do think that you were partway to solving my problem.

locahost@9010 is not a motorcar – just an empty folder which has appeared and which I can't delete. I don't actually understand why information technology appeared simply Googling indicated that other people take something similar and it appears to be 'harmless'. From trawling through the answers to the questions that other people have asked about localhost it may be related to ane of my Microsoft applications simply I haven't investigated it thoroughly. Time is sometimes brusk!!

Give thanks you for trying to help.

I suffered from this problem also. Solved information technology by adding my ii NAS to the HOSTS file:

192.168.0.123 NameOfDiskStation

This fixed the problem for both my NAS'es.

The hosts file resides in:

C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc

As the file is write-protected, I saved it in \documents and then used cmd (ambassador mode) to copy information technology from \documents to C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc
